In 2023, Lexington's Planning Commission recommended a 2,800 acre expansion of its Urban Service Boundary in five locations across Fayette County.

Now, we have one year to create a plan for urban development, transportation, parks, and infrastructure and more in the expansion areas.

The City of Lexington’s Division of Planning are leading the 2024 Urban Growth Plan process. Alongside planning staff, the city has hired TSW Design as a consultant to help research and write the Master Plan. TSW is also working with a variety of local organizations to fill in the project team; including Gresham Smith, Partners for Economic Solutions, Southface, and CivicLex.
